Description
Loose needles end up in a pincushion, a tin, or the bottom of a project bag — bent, blunt, or in your thumb. This is the fix.
Turned from a single piece of wood and closed with a copper threaded cap, the tube keeps your hand-sewing and embroidery needles tidy, point-down, and within reach on the bench. The cap screws shut, so it stays shut in a bag.
What you get
- The needle case — one turned solid-wood tube with a copper threaded cap.
- Needles are not included. The case ships empty.
- Want needles as well? Choose a needle pack in the Option menu above: gold-tail, standard side-threading, or long side-threading.
Three woods
- Rosewood — warm reddish-brown with a lively, interlocking grain.
- Ebony — near-black and tight-grained, for a quieter bench.
- Natural wood — pale and unfinished-looking; it takes on a patina as you work.
Specs — the needle case
- Body — turned solid wood, polished
- Fitting — copper threaded collar and cap; it screws shut
- Colour — natural rosewood
- Size — 83 mm tall × 17.6 mm diameter
- Capacity — up to 50 gold-tail needles, or any needles up to 75 mm
- Use — home sewing and mending, handcraft and embroidery
Dimensions are measured by hand — allow about ±2 mm.
Optional: needle packs
Gold-tail needles — five lengths: 42, 46, 50, 56 and 62 mm, ten of each (50 needles).
Side-threading needles — calyx-eye needles. You pull the thread across the needle rather than posting it through an eye, made for tired eyes and dark evenings. Twelve to a folding card (0.76 × 36 mm and 0.76 × 42 mm), or six long ones.
Care
A dry cloth is enough. Wood and copper both prefer a dry bench.
Wood is a natural material — grain, tone and figure differ from piece to piece. That is the point.
