EVA hard-shell keyboard case, 68 or 87 key

Description

A hard shell for a compact mechanical keyboard. EVA board inside, wrapped in fabric, with a webbing handle and a zip that runs all the way round. Closed, it is a flat case about the size of the board it holds; open, one half has two elastic straps and the other has a mesh pocket.

Will your board fit?

The case is listed for 68-key and 87-key layouts and measures 34 cm on the outside, so the cavity inside is a little shorter than that. A 68-key board is typically well inside 34 cm. A full-size 87-key board is often wider than the case itself. We have not test-fitted a keyboard, so the measurement that counts is the one you take of your own board.

Colour, not size

Both options are the same case at the same size. The difference is the cloth and its colour: Oxford cloth is the plain black weave, snowflake cloth is the grey heathered one. If you are choosing on size, there is nothing to choose between them.

Two figures we are not printing

The specification sheet that came with this case also lists 80 × 35 × 60 cm and a weight of 22 under a column headed grams. Work it out and 80 × 35 × 60 is 168,000 cm³ — which is exactly what the sheet’s own volume column says. So those numbers describe a shipping carton, not the case. And 22 g is far lighter than any case this size. We are publishing neither figure rather than passing on a number we cannot stand behind.

The 34 × 13 × 6 cm above, by contrast, is stated in the product name and drawn on the measurements, and the two agree. It is still a hand measurement, so allow a few millimetres either way.

No keyboard, no cable, no keycaps. The case ships empty.
