Description
Thirty cross-stitch needles — ten each of sizes 22, 24 and 26 — in a clear tube with a screw cap. The needles have silver shafts and gold-coloured tails; the tail is the end with the eye, and the gold makes the eye easier to find against dark cloth.
Sizes
Ten of each. The number is the wire gauge and the higher number is the finer needle: 24 is the middle of the three and the one most cross-stitch on 14-count aida ends up using, 26 is for finer work, and 22 takes a heavier thread or a coarser weave. Thirty in the pack means you can keep one of each loaded with a different colour and not stop to re-thread.
Two tubes, same needles
The two options hold exactly the same thirty needles. What differs is the tube they come in, and both tubes are shown in the photographs: the standard one has a plain cap, and the other carries a moulded tab and a recessed oval on the face of the cap. The second is the one sold as an upgraded tube.
We are passing the word “upgraded” on rather than explaining it, because the photographs show a differently moulded cap and not what the moulding does.
What the photographs show
Both pictures lay the loose needles out in three groups by size rather than spreading all thirty on the table — the rest are in the tube beside them. Count what is laid out and you will see fewer than ship; the pack holds ten of each size.
Weight
- Standard tube — 5 g
- Upgraded tube — 8 g
Both are quoted weights rather than ours. When stock is in our hands we will put one of each on a scale and correct this page.
